My most challenging FIP cases and how I treated them (live panel)
Overview
Although feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) has become a treatable disease with the availability of antiviral therapy, some cases continue to challenge even experienced clinicians. This lecture presents a series of complex real-world FIP cases, including cats that may not look like FIP in the first place, cases with concurrent sepsis (“septic FIP”), immune-mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA) and co-infections. Through detailed case discussions, attendees will learn practical diagnostic approaches, treatment modifications, monitoring strategies, and management of complications that arise during antiviral therapy. Emphasis will be placed on clinical decision-making, recognizing atypical presentations, and balancing treatment of FIP with management of concurrent diseases to optimize patient outcomes.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this webinar, participants should be able to:
- Recognize atypical and complicated presentations of feline infectious peritonitis, including concurrent sepsis, IMHA and infectious co-morbidities.
- Recognize complicated FIP cases that may not look like FIP on the first sight
- Develop diagnostic plans to distinguish FIP progression from secondary complications or concurrent diseases.
- Formulate evidence-informed treatment strategies that integrate antiviral therapy with management of immune-mediated, and infectious complications.
