About Enalees
Enalees is an international biotechnology company specialised in rapid molecular diagnostics for animal health. The company develops, manufactures and markets LAMP-based isothermal PCR tests that enable veterinary professionals to investigate suspected infectious diseases directly in the clinic or in the field, without routinely depending on external laboratory pathways. Its diagnostic ranges — Epona® for horses, Astéria® for dogs and cats, and Rhéa® for ruminants — cover more than 70 tests and support the detection of more than 25 infectious diseases across companion and livestock animals.
Built around scientific expertise, field usability and practical clinical impact, Enalees’ mission is to bring the performance of molecular diagnostics closer to the patient. Its LAMP technology combines the key benefits associated with PCR — sensitivity and specificity — with rapid results, robustness and use at the point of care. This approach helps veterinary teams move from suspicion to informed action during the consultation: testing, explaining, advising and guiding the next medical step without losing valuable time.
For veterinary practices, Enalees’ solutions are designed not only to support earlier and more reasoned care decisions, but also to strengthen client communication, streamline workflows and enhance the value of the consultation. With R&D and production facilities located at the Genopole biocluster in France, and subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, Germany and Canada, Enalees continues to expand internationally while remaining focused on one ambition: improving the animal care pathway through rapid, reliable and accessible molecular diagnostics.
Feline coronavirus diagnostic test
In recent years, the clinical landscape of feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) has evolved significantly. With the availability of effective antiviral treatments, FIP is no longer systematically considered a fatal condition, shifting the veterinarian’s role from late-stage suspicion to early, informed intervention. In this context, the ability to rapidly support or refine a clinical suspicion has become critical to patient outcomes and client communication.
Feline coronavirus (FCoV) is highly prevalent, particularly in multi-cat environments, and while most infections remain benign, a small proportion may evolve into FIP. This complexity makes diagnosis particularly challenging: clinical signs are often non-specific, and distinguishing between harmless exposure and clinically significant infection requires careful interpretation of multiple parameters.
Astéria® Feline Coronavirus has been developed by Enalees to support veterinarians facing this diagnostic uncertainty. By enabling the detection of feline coronavirus RNA directly at the point of care, the test provides rapid molecular information that can be integrated immediately into the clinical assessment. This allows veterinary teams to move more efficiently from suspicion to action — whether that involves further investigations, monitoring, isolation measures or therapeutic decisions.
Delivering results within the timeframe of a consultation, the test contributes to a more fluid care pathway. It supports clearer, evidence-based discussions with pet owners and helps veterinarians make timely, reasoned decisions in a disease where every day can be critical. In the era of FIP treatment, rapid access to relevant diagnostic insight is no longer just a technical advantage — it is becoming a key component of modern feline practice.
