Available medications: experiences and controversies

Overview

This session will provide historical context to the global supply of antiviral drugs for use in cats, provide a brief overview of veterinary pharmaceutical compounding, and explain the benefits of using licensed and regulated formulation.  We will also discuss an update on the global access to legally sourced antiviral therapies for FIP, what is known about the quality of compounded versus unlicensed antiviral products, and present research aimed at monitoring the ongoing use of black market products despite compounded product availability.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this webinar, participants should be able to:

  1. Compare compounded antiviral drugs to unlicensed “black market” formulations, and explain the risks of unlicensed products
