Bio
Demetris Epaminondas DVM, MVSc, MPA, phDc Demetris graduated from the Vet School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 2007. He then pursuit a master’s degree in companion animal surgery which included a two-year surgical internship (2007-2009). In 2024, he earned his second master’s degree in public administration from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. He is currently a PhD candidate at the Vet School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. After working as a companion animal practitioner for a number of years, he became an Official Veterinarian.
Since 2013, Demetris has served on the Board of the Pancyprian Veterinary Association, including roles as General Secretary, Vice President, and President in 2024. He is also an elected Board Member of the Cyprus Veterinary Chamber since 2019.He represents Cyprus in major veterinary organizations such as FECAVA, WSAVA, ISFM, and FVE. His research interests are centered on infectious diseases, with particular emphasis on Feline Infectious Peritonitis following the significant outbreak in Cyprus in 2023.
He is one of the founding members of the FCoV23 Consortium, which is supported by the Morris Animal Foundation and Every Cat Health Foundation. He is also a member of the Special Ministerial Epidemiological Committee for Food-and Mouth Disease in Cyprus and a member of the Animal Health Working Group of the Federation of the Veterinarians of Europe.
