Feline Infectious Peritonitis in 2024: Updates for the Caregiver (2024)

Overview

Since the legal availability of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) medications in the UK and Australia in 2021, thousands of cats have been successfully treated, giving caregivers new hope in the battle against the once-fatal disease. These breakthrough treatments have not only transformed veterinary medicine but also empowered caregivers to take a more active role in their pets’ recovery. As our global understanding of feline diseases, diagnosis, and treatment management has grown, so too has the ability for caregivers to provide effective, compassionate care. With the support of their veterinarians, caregivers are now better equipped to monitor their pets, administer medications, and play a vital role in ensuring their feline companions receive the right dosing and follow-up care.

In this session, Dr. Sam Taylor will discuss the latest developments in feline disease management, including how caregivers can support their pets through the treatment process. From understanding the signs of recovery to managing medications and partnering with veterinarians, this talk will provide invaluable insights for caregivers dedicated to giving their pets the best possible chance at a healthy, happy life. Together, we can now offer a future where once-devastating diagnoses are no longer a death sentence but an opportunity for successful recovery and ongoing companionship.
