Rodney grew up in Zimbabwe and graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Pretoria, South Africa, in 1985. He initially practiced large animal medicine in Zimbabwe before moving to the USA in the same year.

Rodney completed a small animal internship at the Animal Medical Centre in Manhattan, New York, before pursuing a residency in medical oncology at The Ohio State University in 1989. He achieved Board Certification in medical oncology in 1994 and radiation oncology in 2000.

Over the years, Rodney has developed oncology departments, provided consulting services for various practices and laboratories, and lectured extensively in the United States and internationally on oncological topics. His research contributions include work on multi-drug resistance, mast cell tumours, and oral melanoma. In addition, he has authored and co-authored numerous articles and publications in his field.

Rodney had been in private referral, medical, and radiation oncology practice in Southern California since 1993. In April 2019, he returned to the UK to establish and develop the Oncology Department at Paragon.

Rodney specialises in multi-modality therapy protocols for treating cancer in animals, combining patient-centred and client-focused approaches to deliver the highest standard of care.
