Using oral remdesivir in New Zealand
Overview
This presentation will review the current evidence supporting antiviral treatment of FIP with oral remdesivir. This medication has been less commonly used internationally but in some countries such as New Zealand it has been the most available option so has been well utilised. The pharmacology of remdesivir and its relationship to GS-441524 will be discussed, including recent pharmacokinetic studies that have improved our understanding of drug absorption, metabolism and systemic exposure following oral administration. Emerging clinical data comparing oral remdesivir with GS-441524 in cats with naturally occurring FIP will be examined.
