Challenges in Diagnosis & Management of Hypertension (2025)

Overview

Systemic hypertension is estimated to affect at least 20% of older cats and is especially common in combination with illnesses such as chronic kidney disease. Diagnosis is not always straightforward; distinguishing between situational and genuine hypertension can be challenging.

Treatment challenges include management of emergency cases, poor compliance, inadequate response and adverse effects. A successful outcome depends on good team work with the career, regular monitoring and support tailored to the individual cat. In this case-based presentation Sarah will share her tips for solving challenges relating to the diagnosis and management of it.
