Meet Henrik

I got Henrik from a Breeder at 4.5 months old, he was very quiet and withdrawn, I put it down as being in a new home, as time progressed I noticed he wasn’t eating much, he was very lethargic, warm to the touch and his belly was huge, feeling his belly felt like a bowl of jelly so I made an appointment to our vet.

After blood works and a sample from the fluid in Henrik’s belly he was diagnosed with Wet FIP, my world just collapsed hearing those words as I only lost my 4 year old to heart failure 3 months before. Our vet was not very positive towards FIP survival but I insisted on a 2nd opinion so we went to SASH. Henrik was there for 3 nights on IV, by the 2nd day he was showing improvement so we got to take him home with a script for Bova oral medication.

I remember ordering the medication and picking it up from Bova, I walked in a confused, sad and a lost owner, I really didn’t know much about this disease, all I ever heard was terrible. Colin Bova came out with Henrik’s medication, his attitude and positivity was what I needed to hear at that moment and I thank him for that.

Henrik got through his 3 months of treatment with regular blood works and scans, by the time he hit the 89 days observation period he was a different kitten, so playful, mischievous and ate every meal.

Henrik is now 1 year and 10 months, he is still small in size but eats like a lion and loves tormenting his older brother, he is so full of energy and such a cuddle bug. Henrik is a FIP survivor warrior!
