Diagnosis: Effusive (Wet) FIP
Ra took sick suddenly. He went from happy kitten to sick kitten within a day. We rang our vet, and they suggested we take him to VSS as his condition was worsening rapidly. He was examined and determined to have suspected FIP. A large amount of fluid had built up in his abdominal area. They operated immediately, took a blood sample, and started him on intravenous medications as soon as he recovered from surgery. When I saw him after surgery, I was so scared he wasn’t going to pull through. After three days in the hospital, he came home and started his 84-day treatment.After 10 days, he was a completely different kitten, and you would not have guessed he had been severely ill. We are now just over a year post-treatment, and he is a happy, rambunctious, naughty cat, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I will forever be grateful to the vets at VSS and Woollies pet insurance, who never once flinched at paying the expensive medical costs involved.
