Beyond retained fetal membranes: Managing conditions of the post-partum mare (2023)

This is a recording from WEVA congress 2023

Overview

James discusses the needs of both the client and the mare during the initial assessment. He explains what is considered normal and what is not in the post-foaling mare, guiding practitioners through essential postpartum examinations.

The webinar also covers the recognition and emergency management of several critical conditions, including periparturient haemorrhage, post-foaling metritis, uterine lacerations, uterine horn tip inversion, and prolapses—such as uterine, bladder, and rectal prolapse. James outlines practical approaches to treating these emergencies, offering valuable field-based solutions for equine practitioners.
