Overview
Jane’s company has taken Business Biopsies from over thirty veterinary practices over the last seven years. This has involved attending the practices to observe workflow, systems, processes, facilities, equipment, team engagement, financial situation and safe work practices. And more!
The resulting reports have been extensive and have revealed some interesting trends and similarities that Jane will share with you.
What makes a practice well-managed? Or poorly managed? Profitable or unprofitable? What makes team members feel happy and safe? Or not? This session will lead you to the answers.

In 1982, Jane qualified as a Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, she was registered and received the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, BSAVA’s “Veterinary Nursing Award”.
In 1992, Jane started a lifelong commitment to raising the standards, professionalism and self-esteem of Australian veterinary nurses when elected to the Veterinary Nurses Council of Australia (VNCA).
From 1994 to 2010, Jane held the President and office bearer position, National Executive of the VNCA. Life Member.
From 1996-2004 Jane was part of the National Industry Advisory Group for Veterinary Nursing and the Federal Government’s Australian Animal Welfare Strategy. In 1997 she was a Finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards and received the AVA’s Meritorious Service Award and in 1999 established ‘Pets at the Vets’ Veterinary Hospital (a superlative veterinary workplace).
From 2008-2015, Jane held the President and office bearer positions of the AVBA (now the VBG). Life Member. In 2012, Jane attained a Diploma of Management (VECCI).
Today, Jane, with business partner Sally Boyle consult to veterinary practices all around Australia on every aspect of veterinary practice management and leadership through their company “SANE Practice Management Mentoring”.
