Overview

A brief discussion of pathophys, diagnosis of laminitis, including determination of the inciting cause, field approach to management of acute & chronic laminitis including diet, hoof support/therapies, analgesia and housing, and the options for analgesia, where to start and where you can go in those challenging cases.

Dr. Sarah Gough BVSc/BVetBio (Hons 1), DipECEIM, EBVSDiplomate, European College of Equine Internal Medicine, European and Australian Specialist in Equine Internal Medicine

Sarah is a boarded internal medicine specialist through the European College of Equine Internal Medicine. She has previously worked in both Australia and the UK. For the past 3 years, Sarah has been at Hunter Equine Centre in Scone, where she is the hospital director as well as working as an internal medicine specialist. Sarah’s main areas of interest are neonatal medicine, ophthalmology, cardiology and workup of poor performance cases including dynamic endoscopy, exercising ECGs and managing muscle disorders. However, during her time at Rainbow Equine Hospital and Laboratory in the UK, she gained a lot of experience in endocrine disorders and the management of challenging laminitis cases.
