Meet Evie
Evie, a sweet tabby cat, just celebrated her first birthday in November. She joined our family in March 2024 after we adopted her from the RSPCA, where she had been lovingly named Milly.
From the start, Evie faced challenges. She was a tiny kitten, weighing under 1kg, and struggled with persistent diarrhoea that lasted about a month. At the time, we attributed it to the stress of a new environment. She ate very little, drank a lot of water, and seemed more interested in sleeping than playing, often seeking warmth under covers or on our laps.
In early September, we noticed changes in Evie’s eyes—her third eyelid partially covered both eyes. Within days, her pupils became uneven. Concerned, we took her to our local vet. After reviewing her history, they conducted blood tests that confirmed a diagnosis of FIP.
The treatment options presented to us were unfortunately beyond our means, and Evie’s condition worsened. She lost her vision, became increasingly fatigued, and ate very little. Heartbroken, we considered euthanasia but decided to explore every possible avenue first. We reached out to various organizations, including the RSPCA, veterinary hospitals, and university animal science departments, hoping to find assistance.
Thankfully, the RSPCA responded with incredible compassion, providing treatment for Evie under special conditions. Within days, her appetite improved, and after two weeks, her vision returned—a remarkable transformation.
Since starting treatment, Evie has blossomed into the playful kitten she was always meant to be. She jumps, explores, and shows a zest for life that fills our hearts with joy. She will complete her treatment in late November and have a follow-up appointment to ensure her progress continues. We are deeply grateful to the RSPCA for their support and care. Evie’s recovery is nothing short of amazing, and we are cherishing every moment with our resilient little fighter. The content is unavailable in your location.
