Meet Ziya

I took Ziya in as a foster kitten with the rescue I was fostering for at the time, after she was diagnosed with FIP shortly after her spay surgery. She had pleural effusion. I work as a vet nurse, so I was asked to foster her so I could administer the injections. They had only become available a couple of months prior.

Ziya developed ocular FIP about halfway through treatment – we increased the dose and started afresh for an additional 84 days. Started another treatment, severe hives and discomfort after the first dose. Halved dose and gave 3x weekly but continued to show side effects.

Then tablets became available from Bova! Game changer.

We ran blood tests every 2 weeks to monitor for renal or hepatic issues with the high dose; luckily, no issues there although her white blood cell count and other values were a bit all over the place. The last blood tests run 8 weeks into treatment were still not quite right, but finally! Blood tests run at 12 weeks were all within normal limits.

Finished treatment in early November 2021. She’s still happy and healthy today.
