Bova Sustainability – Planet

Planet

We know our planet matters which is why we’ve adopted a number of green choices to reduce our carbon footprint and minimise our impact on the environment.

Two key areas we will focus on will be our climate impact and ensuring a responsible supply chain.

Climate change

Actively measure and mitigate our greenhouse gas emissions and negative impact on the planet throughout the value chain

  • Climate intensity, scope 1&2 tonnes CO2e
  • Employees informed and educated on climate policy
  • Connected to UN’s SDG target

Responsible supply chain

Actively work to create a more responsible supply chain where we mitigate our environmental impact and safeguard human rights

  • New suppliers who have signed SCoC (100%)
  • Bova employees in purchasing positions trained in SCoC (100%)
  • High risk suppliers that have conducted self-assessment (100%)
  • Connected to UN’s SDG target

Bova Group sustainability update: making strides toward a greener future

We’re excited to share an update on Bova Group’s sustainability journey. As a pharmaceutical manufacturer serving the veterinary industry, we are committed to embedding sustainability into everything we do. Together with the support of our parent company Nextmune and Vimian, we’ve made significant progress, laying a strong foundation for long-term environmental responsibility across our sites in London and Sydney.

Silver accreditation achieved

We’re proud to announce that Bova Group has now achieved Silver level accreditation with Investors in the Environment (IIE), with an overall score of 85%.

This milestone reflects the continued development of our Environmental Management System (EMS), alongside strong performance in leadership, communication, and environmental projects. It also recognises our growing ability to manage resources, engage teams, and deliver measurable sustainability initiatives across both regions.

While we celebrate this achievement, we also recognise that sustainability is a continuous journey. The audit has highlighted key areas where we can go further, particularly in carbon management, travel data tracking, and waste stream monitoring—and we are already taking action.

What we’ve accomplished so far

Here are some highlights of our sustainability progress:

  • A strong sustainability strategy
We’ve implemented a long-term carbon reduction and Net Zero strategy, supported by our Senior Management Team and parent companies, with clear action plans continuing into 2025 and beyond.
  • Engaged Green Teams
Our Green Teams continue to grow in both the UK and Australia, driving initiatives, improving engagement, and fostering a culture of sustainability, helped along by a little friendly competition.
  • Improved waste and packaging
All primary and secondary packaging is now fully recyclable, alongside initiatives like Wool Cool insulation and reuse schemes. We’ve also introduced waste education programmes to improve segregation and reduce contamination.
  • Carbon and resource insights
We’ve strengthened our carbon footprint reporting across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, enabling better analysis and more targeted action planning toward our reduction goals.
  • Sustainable travel initiatives
A fleet decarbonisation strategy is underway in the UK, supported by EV infrastructure and active travel initiatives, while staff commuting insights are shaping a broader travel plan.
  • Impactful environmental and social projects
From biodiversity and community initiatives to charity partnerships, litter picking, and reuse schemes, we’ve delivered meaningful projects that engage employees and create real-world impact.

Looking ahead: our Green aims for 2026

As we build on our Silver accreditation, our focus now turns to accelerating progress and driving measurable impact. Our key sustainability aims for 2026 include:

  • Deliver measurable carbon reduction
Move from baseline measurement to demonstrable emissions reductions, supported by interim targets and improved data accuracy across all regions.
  • Enhance carbon tracking and reporting
Expand data capture for business and commuter travel, and improve consistency in EMS implementation across UK and Australia.
  • Advance toward Net Zero targets
Continue progress toward our 42% reduction target for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, with clearer milestone tracking and accountability.
  • Strengthen waste management systems
Improve tracking of all waste streams (including clinical and WEEE waste), reduce waste volumes, and increase circular economy initiatives such as reuse and return schemes.
  • Reduce travel-related emissions
Further embed sustainable travel practices by prioritising low-carbon transport, optimising journeys, and introducing clearer travel policies.
  • Drive resource efficiency projects
Deliver targeted projects to reduce energy, paper, and water use, linking performance more closely to operational growth.
  • Deepen employee and stakeholder engagement
Continue to grow Green Team initiatives, increase participation in sustainability programmes, and enhance communication of our progress internally and externally.

Continuing the journey

Achieving Silver accreditation is an important milestone, but it’s only one step on our journey. As we continue to grow as a business, we are committed to ensuring that sustainability grows with us.

By building on strong foundations, addressing key challenges, and setting ambitious goals for 2026 and beyond, Bova Group is making meaningful strides toward a greener, more responsible future.
