Meet Luna
Age: 4mths and 15 days
Breed: Maine Coon
Diagnosis: Non-effusive (dry) form
Luna is just starting this journey, had coronavirus and severe gastroenteritis…was in hospital 3 days. This was around 3 months old. She had severe vomiting…
came home, seemed to improve for a couple of weeks, then started losing weight again, vomiting, not eating a lot, lethargic, very quiet…
back to ARH, had part of thickened bowel removed, was starting to block… biopsy on bowel and removed lymph node showing signs of FIP, so has started on the meds, in tablet form.. a stain test has been done on removed bowel to confirm diagnoses, but on the Surgeon’s advice, she has started the 12 week course, plus antibiotics for the other bacteria found in the samples taken..
She had a setback, her feeding tube became badly infective, spent another 5 days at ARH.
She has been home 2 days, and is turning into the little kitten she should have always been… be able to feed her wet food again in a few days, hole in neck and oesophagus is nearly healed…she will love that, plus can start putting her half tablet in it, not as stressful for her….
The meds are expensive, but we have already spent a small fortune on surgery, so it seems cheap in comparison…the ARH, has been wonderful, covering her last 5 days in ICU…we are forever grateful…I just hope she has no major setbacks, and becomes a big kitty like she is supposed to be…
