Bova Group achieves Bronze Level with Investors in the Environment
Investors in the Environment (IiE) is a not-for-profit environmental accreditation scheme designed to help businesses and organisations enhance their environmental performance. It offers a clear framework and practical guidance for reducing environmental impact, fostering sustainability, and promoting environmental responsibility. IiE accreditation is awarded at three levels—Bronze, Silver, and Green—providing organisations with a structured pathway to progress their environmental initiatives.
Bova Group’s IiE journey
Bova Group (comprising Bova UK and Bova Aus) has successfully achieved Bronze accreditation, surpassing many of the bronze criteria and demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainability. The decision to pursue IiE accreditation was influenced by its growing recognition among customers, including veterinary practices and other pharmaceutical companies, as a trusted measure of environmental responsibility. In the UK, IiE accreditation has become a reliable standard, with organisations evaluated against consistent metric criteria, ensuring credibility and transparency.
For Bova Group, this accreditation is more than just a badge—it’s a symbol of authenticity and accountability to our customers. While it’s easy to present sustainability efforts on paper, accreditation provides external validation, demonstrating a deeper commitment and adding credibility to our claims.
Lizzie Barnard, Global Head of Marketing and Sustainability at Bova Group, said:
“Achieving Bronze accreditation with IiE is a proud milestone for the Bova Group, reflecting our dedication to meaningful sustainability practices. It’s not just about meeting targets; it’s about embedding sustainability into our culture and creating real, measurable impact for our customers, partners, and the environment. This achievement reinforces our promise to act with integrity and transparency as we continue our sustainability journey.”
Although IiE is currently focused on the UK, it has ambitions to expand internationally. Bova Group’s Australia facility is proud to be the first internationally accredited building, reflecting the global reach of its sustainability efforts under the Bova Group umbrella.
Bova Group’s next steps
Looking ahead, Bova Group is committed to achieving Silver accreditation as the next milestone in its environmental journey. Key focus areas for 2025 include finalising its carbon measures, sharpening supply chain analysis, and diving deeper into product lifecycle analysis, starting with a single product to build its expertise.
Bova Group’s journey with IiE is a testament to its belief that sustainability is not just a goal but an ongoing commitment.

Some of our reduction projects have included:
Website carbon reduction: In today’s digital age, websites can be surprisingly energy-hungry, with some emitting as much carbon dioxide as a car driving 1,000 miles. In fact, the collective CO2 emissions from websites surpass those of the entire aviation industry. As more consumers gravitate toward eco-conscious brands, making websites sustainable has become a priority.
At Bova, we put this to the test in June 2024. Our global website, www.bova.vet, initially received an F rating for its carbon emissions, producing over 0.847 grams of CO2 per page view according to a website carbon calculator. Read more here
A greener journey: Introducing WoolCool®
In our quest to grow as a greener organization, we’ve set our sights on reducing the environmental impact of our operations, particularly in the area of temperature-controlled shipping. Traditionally, polystyrene has been the go-to material for cool chain boxes due to its effectiveness in maintaining stable temperatures over extended periods. However, its significant environmental drawback is its non-recyclable nature. Read more here
