Meet Daniel

In March 2021, my cat suddenly became lethargic, lost weight, and showed difficulty walking. Initially, I suspected it was a minor infection, but the vet, after conducting rapid tests, presented three potential diagnoses: a blockage due to ingestion, cancer, or Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). The tests suggested fluid in the abdominal cavity, and after further analysis, FIP was deemed the most likely cause.

Immediately, I was connected with Dundas Vet, who recommended starting an antiviral medication. This drug had recently been approved in Australia and was only available through a specific veterinary process. I purchased the drug, which required a strict injection schedule of 1 ml per kg body weight for 24-hour intervals.

After 12 weeks of treatment, my cat’s condition significantly improved, though the low red blood cell count indicated a severe state. We continued the therapy for three weeks, gradually increasing the dose to 1.5 ml per kg. The vet’s final evaluation showed that my cat had fully recovered, returning to a healthy weight and normal activity levels.

The journey has been a financial and emotional struggle, but the result was worth it. I encourage others dealing with FIP to seek proper treatment and to prepare for the long road ahead.
