Meet Cowboy Moo
Age: 1yr 3mo
Breed: DSH
Diagnosis: Effusive (wet) form
Moo has a long history of cat flu, including chronic blocked tear ducts. After fostering a dog that stressed him, Moo had a flu outbreak, which led to lethargy, mouth breathing, and visible third eyelids. We took him to an emergency vet, who found fluid in his lungs and diagnosed him with cat flu. He needed to be hospitalized overnight and then taken to his regular vet.His regular vet clinic, known for FIP treatment in QLD, quickly diagnosed him with FIP and started treatment. Cowboy Moo was home after a week and immediately back to his usual self. He ate the tuna-flavored tablets easily and returned for his check-up bloodwork. As all was well in his blood tests, he finished his medication course and received a call from his vet stating he was clear of FIP!
He ate very well throughout (I gave him kitten food thinking he needed the extra calories, but he got very fat) and had no known side effects from the medication. Cowboy Moo has been healthy ever since, though he still has occasional flu outbreaks. It has been 10 months since completing treatment.
