Meet Ella
Age: 6.5 years
Breed: Birman
Diagnosis: Non-effusive (dry) form
Ella was diagnosed with dry FIP and initially treated with medication for 84 days, during which she did really well. However, after 50 days, Ella relapsed, and we restarted her treatment at a higher dose. With the amazing help from Dr. Malik and support from Bova, she improved significantly. Near the end of another 84-day treatment, her blood tests indicated she wasn’t fully recovering, so we added another medication for 14 days. Unfortunately, Ella started to regress and relapsed with neuro FIP.Under Dr. Malik’s guidance, we started Ella on another experimental treatment, EIDD, which had not been tried in Australia at the time. After another 110 days of treatment, with a few adjustments along the way, we finally succeeded. Ella’s last dose was on November 1, 2022, and today she is living her best life.
One thing I will say is to seek help—there is so much support available these days. Bova has a lot of information and links, and there are groups with people willing to help. Treatment options are evolving almost daily. Ella was diagnosed with dry FIP and initially treated with medication for 84 days, during which she did really well.
